Privacy
Privacy policy.
The Community Brief (“we”) operates thecommunitybrief.com. This policy explains what is collected when you visit, how it is used, and the choices you have. Last updated October 4, 2026.
1
No accounts, no profiles.
The site needs no account, name, email address or phone number. We do not sell personal information, we show no advertising, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
ZIP codes. When you enter a ZIP code, the site opens that ZIP’s page, so the ZIP code becomes part of the page address. Like any page address, it is visible to the analytics services described below. We do not keep a separate record of the ZIP codes people look up.
Your state on the homepage. To preselect “Your state,” the homepage asks our hosting provider, Cloudflare, which U.S. state your internet connection appears to be in. Cloudflare estimates this from your IP address. We use the answer only to fill in that menu; we do not store it. It can be wrong, for example on a VPN, and you can change it at any time.
Settings kept in your browser. If you change the text size or pick a state, your browser remembers that choice on your own device (local storage). It is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
2
Analytics and site measurement.
We use two analytics services to understand how the site is used and to fix problems. They set cookies or similar technologies and automatically receive information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and how you interact with them.
Google Analytics measures traffic and usage. See Google’s privacy policy, or opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Microsoft Clarity helps us see how visitors use pages, through heatmaps and session replays of clicks, scrolls and page movement. See the Microsoft privacy statement.
3
Hosting.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver pages and protect the site, including your IP address. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
4
Your privacy choices.
No sale or sharing for advertising. We show no ads and do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as that opt-out as well.
Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site works without them.
Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on linked above.
State privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct or delete personal information. Because we keep no accounts or visitor profiles, we hold little or no information that can be linked to you, but you can send any privacy request to [email protected] and we will respond as the law requires.
5
Children.
The site is meant for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6
Changes and contact.
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date. Questions: [email protected].
